Sloe Gin
Sloe gin is a sweet, reddish liqueur made by infusing sloe berries, a type of small, tart fruit related to the plum, in gin. The sloe berries are traditionally harvested after the first frost, when they are at their ripest, and then they are macerated in gin along with sugar. The resulting liqueur has a rich, fruity flavor with a slight tartness and sweetness. It’s often enjoyed on its own, mixed with tonic water for a refreshing drink, or used as an ingredient in cocktails.
