Fernet-Branca
Originally created in 1845 in Milan, Italy, Fernet-Branca is a globally popular amaro. First advertised in the local Milanese newspaper in 1865, Fernet was described as having a “range of beneficial properties that can relieve the ailments of people suffering from fevers and states of anxiety.” This infusion of 27 diferent herbs, roots and spices is popular around the world, and it has a much higher ABV than other amari of 39%, yet is much lower in sugar. Of interest, more than 35% of all Fernet Branca is consumed in San Francisco, California.

Description: Can be used as an apertif (before meals) or as a digestive (after meals). The bittersweet flavor makes it useful for adding depth and leathery aspect to a cocktail. This amaro will pair well with citrus, such as lemon, orange and grapefruit.
