Pama
Pama is a pomegranate liqueur, originally produced in 2006 by Heaven Hill brands in Bardstown, Kentucky. This liqueur might be used in place of grenadine, although Pama is much less sweet than its counterpart.
Curiously, pomegranates have been referred to as the “forbidden fruit” that tempted Adam and Eve, as well as Persephone’s “the fruit of the dead” referenced in ancient Greek mythology. In spite of these ominous reputations, pomegranates found great favor in the Middle East, having been domesticated as early as 5000 B.C. Iran is the second largest producer and the largest exporter of pomegranates worldwide. These notes might provide clues to cocktail names using this pomegranate liqueur.
