Chambord

Chambord is a premium raspberry liqueur that originates from the Loire Valley in France.  It is known for its rich and complex flavor, which comes from a blend of red and black raspberries.  The production involves infusing the fruit in a neutral spirit, blending with extracts, and then incorporating the vanilla, citrus, honey, and cognac to achieve its final taste.  Chambord is known for its sweetness, balanced by the tartness of the raspberries and the complexity of the cognac.  The honey and vanilla also contribute to its sweet profile, making it a luxurious and indulgent liqueur.

Chambord is inspired by a raspberry liqueur recipe believed to have been created in the Loire Valley of France during the late 17th century. This historical recipe was reportedly enjoyed by King Louis XIV during his visits to the Château de Chambord.  The modern Chambord liqueur was developed in 1982 by Norton “Sky” Cooper of the Charles Jacquin et Cie company. Despite its recent creation, the liqueur aimed to capture the essence and rich history of French raspberry liqueurs.

Chambord is known for its iconic round bottle, resembling a globe with a golden crown, symbolizing royalty and opulence.  This design element ties back to the historical inspiration from the time of King Louis XIV.  The design pays homage to the Château de Chambord and the era of French royalty, linking the liqueur to a sense of historical grandeur and tradition.
