Heering is reportedly the world’s first cherry liqueur, originating in 1818 in Copenhagen, Denmark by Peter Heering.  As the story is told, the cherry liqueur was so good, it quickly became a fixture on merchant ships leaving port to locations all over the world, resulting in its international following.  This elixir is made from a generational family recipe, using real cherries and botanicals to provide a robust cherry flavor.  It may also be referred to as a cherry brandy.

In 2017, the brand was acquired by De Kuyper Royal Distillers, a Dutch company and producer and distributor for a variety of liqueurs worldwide.
